Abstract

Within various topologies of variable speed wind power generation, PWM converters are in general employed as the grid connected inverter. Based on the application of wind energy conversion and requirements of connection to the utility grid, this paper presents a real-time current control strategy adopting instantaneous current regulation and grid voltage feedforward correction. The method improves the dynamic response of the current and further restrains lower order harmonics tremendously. The dc voltage control loop is also devised and the simulation and experimental results are provided demonstrating the feasibility and effectiveness of proposed control method applied to variable speed wind power generating systems.
