Abstract

In recent years, the significance of web-based information sharing in supply chains has attracted increasing attention among researchers and practitioners. Despite a growing body of literature in this area, no quantitative measure for evaluating the overall level of web-based information sharing in supply chains has emerged from the previous studies. This study identifies indicators of level of information sharing and constructs an index for measuring the overall level of information sharing in supply chains by combing its major underlying dimensions. It is suggested that the overall level of information sharing in supply chains should be conceptualized as a formative and multi-dimensional construct. This measurement methodology will be tested by using data from a cross-sectional survey among chief executives in small Canadian companies.
