Abstract

We present a series of three query languages for databases containing paraconsistent information, i.e. information that is incomplete or even inconsistent. Our languages are 4 valued extensions, respectively, of the SELECT statement of SQL, the tuple relational calculus, and the domain re lational calculus used for relational databases. Our gener alized 4-valued semantics permits representation and ma nipulation of paraconsistent information for numerous in terdisciplinary applications rich in such information, for which existing methods are inadequate.
