Software test automation, cause-effect graph, distributed real-time systems
The integration of real-time systems consisting of distributed hardware and software components is error prone even though the components themselves are error free. To find those errors test automation supports the activities during system integration. Our approach adopts cause-and-effect to describe test cases for such systems. The extensions regard distribution and time properties of system components. Test cases organised in test projects are stored in a test data base. Several operational modes support the execution of test cases stimulating test object and acquiring test data. The comparison of actual and expected test results supports software engineers in finding errors. All concepts are tried and evaluated in a laboratory with building security equipment.
