Abstract

In this paper, on the base of data extracted from the execution of twelve backward somersaults, production of angular momentum has been analyzed. The main results of the analysis point to the conclusion that the greatest contribution to the total angular momentum during the take off is done by the shoulders and trunk. Obtained results can help coaches and gymnasts in achieving the maximum height of the flight with sufficient amount of rotation necessary for successful execution of the specific somersault type.
