Robots and Education: A Framework for Development

N.C. Bridgeman and E. Bridgeman (New Zealand)

Robot, education, communication system, Vogotsky.

A model of education as a communications system is examined in order to identify a framework for planning for the development and use of robots within education. Four functional areas are identified: learner–teacher, knowledge–problem, control subsystems and support subsystems. Examples of robots in the wider environment and in education are given for each functional area.
