Abstract

Smart phones today are capable of recording and playing media files. Due to their increased communication capabilities, media recorded or stored on mobiles can be also shared in the proximity. However, it is a tedious task if there is more than one destination node, mainly because of the large number of steps the user has to take using the current smart phone core applications. Our approach, ProxyTorrent is a standalone application on Series60 smart phones that builds an overlay ad-hoc network on top of a Bluetooth-based middleware in order to distribute content in the proximity in an automatic fashion.
