biometric, face recognition, age progression, PCA
This work analyzes a standard face biometric algorithm for person identification against a formidable problem of natural disguise due to craniofacial morphology which is associated with customary adult aging. Through an examination of the complexities of adult age-progression, this work demonstrates that the natural disguise associated with adult aging has a significant impact on the standard PCA (Eigenface) face recognition algorithm. Further, the significant impact on identification rates caused by age-progression may be extended beyond the PCA algorithm to include all image based face recognition systems.
