Abstract

This paper presents the development of an environment to support the parallel and distributed programming. The environment enables computers to share two fundamental resources: memory and processor. The Internet/Intranet is seen as a Pool of available machines for sharing. The main entities in this environment are passive and active objects. The passive objects are lists, stacks and queues. While the active objects are processes. Also, it was developed mechanisms of load balancing, migration and fault tolerance. With Distributed Shared Objects in ESOW (Environment of Shared Objects for Web) is possible to simulate DSM (Distributed Shared Memory). These characteristics make possible to use of our environment for metacomputing. Several tests have been performed and are included in this paper in order to demonstrate ESOW .
