Virtual software inspection, computer-supported software inspection.

Abstract

Research lasting almost ten years has proved the feasibility of computer-supported software inspections. Arranging inspections in a distributed and asynchronous manner is not a straightforward matter, however. The Web provides a viable environment for collaborative inspection tools, but even web-based tools have some inadequacies, which detract from their popularity. Flexibility and interoperability are the main challenges which need to be addressed in inspection tool research and implementation. These features enable the managing of a variety of complex document types created during the development cycle and smooth integration of the inspection tool and process into other development tools and processes in the organization.
