In this paper, we would like to present a smooth way of enhancing the functionality of the CORBA Naming Ser vice. The key element of our design is to leave the IDL interface of the Naming Service unchanged. The enhance ments introduced in this paper are based on the exploitation of several underspecified parts of the CORBA standard, in a way that conformity with the standard and the corre sponding benefits of reusability (of existing clients and servers) are guaranteed.
