Abstract

This paper proposes an adaptive traffic routing algorithm based on a cost function that considers link occupation. Simulations, carried out in an IP over MPLS (Multi Protocol Label Switching) network, supporting CBR (Constant Bit Rate) and VBR (Variable Bit Rate) data sources, show an expressive performance increase in comparison to the traditional SPF (Short Path First) routing. This increase may be attributed to appropriate data flow distribution around network LSPs (Label Switching Paths).
