There is a trend in developed countries where process industries focus on their core competencies. The organizations are “leaner” than before and the personnel in the plants concentrate on operating the production units rather than supporting activities. Also, as processes become more and more integrated, the need for control engineering expertise increases. The personnel in the plants can usually not cope with this requirement. Both trends above open new opportunities for service business. This together with advances in computer and communication technologies open facilitate tools that combine data from on-line measurements and event based actions as well as design specifications of the control systems and processes. In this paper a wide framework for control performance audit, monitoring and knowledge management platform is presented.
