Radial flow, coaxial disks, unsteady flow.
In this present paper, numerical results for unsteady laminar incompressible flow between coaxial disks with axial injection are presented. A finite volume based numerical method was used to solve the governing equations. Numerical simulations have enabled the study of the evolution of the entire flow field from the sudden start of the axial injection to a final steady state solution. For Re=100, the formation of a single vortex ring is observed near the inlet of the injection source. In the case where Re=400, the formation of a second separated flow region is noticed further downstream on the opposite disk.
