Abstract

Plug Power Inc., a New York State designer and manufacturer of Proton Exchange Membrane (PEM) fuel cells has installed ten (10), 5kW fuel cell power systems at the Watervliet Arsenal (Arsenal), located in Watervliet, New York. The objective of the project is the planning, installation, and operation of Plug Power fuel cells in a variety of locations supporting operations at the Arsenal. The electricity produced by these systems is being used to power residential and industrial loads at the Arsenal. The fuel cells are being monitored for electrical efficiency and total availability. The applications include supporting operations to a telecommunications room, a research and development laboratory, and base housing.
