Abstract

A class of linear time-varying systems is discussed in the paper. A suitable transformation of the time variable is introduced to change the system model into an invariant form, so that classical design techniques of control theory can be utilized. The properties of the transformation are investigated, and the theory is used to design a PID controller with time-variable coefficients. By using this controller, the stability of the closed loop system can be guaranteed. The result is confirmed by a pilot-plant test.
