Abstract

This article discusses issues in the development of e learning in the context of China's technical infrastructure, societal expections, and learner expertise. There are tremendous benefits to sing asynchronous e-learning for mature independent learners. Learners can work at the time and lace of their own convenience. However, less independent learners will benefit by some synchronous activities with their tutor and peers. Furthermore, some subject matter depends on synchronous and personal interaction. China's technical infrastructure is evolving rapidly but still restricts the extent of e-learning in many areas.
