Abstract

In open and dynamic environments, agents are designed and developed by different designers at different times for different objectives and goals. These agents might need to interact with each other for achieving their individual and/or common goals. Each may exhibit a different type of behavior such as selfish or benevolent that is not known to the others. This paper presents an agent that is characterized by enlightened cooperative behavior. This characteristic allows the agent to adapt to its environment and to track other agents’ changing behavior over time. This agent is able to interact appropriately with other agents by using different strategies to help them. This agent is being implemented using the IBM Agent Building and Learning Environment Toolkit and illustrated in a multi-agent environment.
