Abstract

This paper addresses a blind adaptive equalization method using the constant modulus algorithm (CMA) and Kalman filter over a time-varying channel. The CMA based on Gadard cost function is the one blind algorithm for the adaptive equalizer that has been a widespread success in communication systems due to its low computational com plexity. However, it cannot track time-varying channels because of its slow convergence. Therefore we propose a new blind equalizer structure using the CMA method and Kalman filter and propose a new cost function which achieves faster convergence to adapt time variation of the channels. Simulation results show that our algorithm out performs some typical existing algorithms.
