This paper presents a new formant frequencies estimation method based on wavelet transform. According to the character of the wavelet transform and Multiresolution Analysis(MRA), with the Mallat algorithm to analyze the spectral domain speech signal the formant frequencies messages can be achieved. The experiments show that the method can limit the influence of the speech pitch harmonic. Compared with the traditional formant frequencies estimation methods, the new method is more effective and accuracy, and the speed of the calculation is more quickly.
