This paper establishes the theoretical SNR gain of the Adaptive Line Enhancer (ALE) when applied to any noisy, multiple sinusoidal input with a noiseless fundamental frequency ff. Assessment is restricted to filter lengths L=k⋅L* , where L* = fs /ff and fs = the sampling frequency. Important simulation results and a derivation of the theoretical SNR gain are provided. Musical and sonar applications are discussed.
