Interactive Video-on-Demand, Broadcast Scheme
Periodic broadcasting is suitable for video-on-demand service of popular videos. To compete with existing video rental services, interactive functions are much preferred in the VoD service. In this paper, we propose a new fast-forward-oriented broadcast scheme called Medium-Range Fast-Forward Broadcasting (MRFFB). The proposed scheme supports clients to perform double-rate fast forward interaction. Our simulation results show that the average fast-forward (FF) range supported in MRFFB is about 30% of the video file size and the maximum FF range reaches 75%.
