Abstract

In current organizational information sharing systems, stored information is retrieved with no consideration of the business process. Consequently, one looking for stored information must guess retrieval keywords, even though appropriate retrieval-keywords have been assigned to the stored information. In turn, the guessed keywords may not retrieve useful stored information about a specific business process. To solve this problem, this paper takes an approach that links the information-sharing process with the business process so that business-relevant information is shared effectively. Our approach can lead to context-awareness in the search for information in an information sharing system. A user can find information from the specific stored information related to the business process in use. We developed a prototype system to test our approach in an office environment.
