Transfer of Senior Employees' Competencies to Junior Employees

In this paper we address the question of how competencies of senior employees are transferred to junior employees. Competence of an employee is illustrated by focusing on its change in the course of the working life and on barriers and facilitators which affect transferring of this competence. The idea about competence push and pull is presented. Furthermore, the results of an experiment, in which the competence transfer from senior employees to junior employees was studied in two large technology companies, are presented.
