Here we present an application of a new self organizing neural model that considers a dynamic topology among neurons to the colour image compression problem. This model is used as an alternative approach to conventional vector quantization techniques. Simulation results are shown to demonstrate the performance of the system, and it is compared with standard competitive learning (CL) compression and JPEG.
