Abstract

Since the complexity of circuits is continuously growing, there is an ever-increasing need for modularity and flexibility in designing the circuits. A very promising approach is the partitioning of the problem into more simple cells that work almost independently and communicate only when necessary. While this solution seems to give us a powerful tool, it also raises new problems concerning the synchronization and communication between the cells, which work mostly in parallel. Thus, new design methods must be developed in order to deal with these new challenges. We propose a method that allows the description of cell behavior and cell interactions, by using the matrix representation. We also suggest a way of connecting the cells for making an optimal data transfer.
