Abstract

An expert artificial neural ecosystem analyzer is designed, which traces ingested food sources of marine invertebrates on inter-tidal flats in Okinawa Island by analyzing their fatty acid profiles. The artificial neural network consists of three layers of neurons with the well-known back-propagation algorithm as the learning method. The pilot ecosystem analyzer traced the food sources with better than 80% success rate, which shows promising ability for generalization and requires further tuning and refinement of the basis neural network system for optimal perfor-mance.
