MPEG-21 proposed a distribution model based on all parties’ role in digital content value chain. The paper proposes a weak point of the MPEG-21 distribution model in a viewpoint of protecting all participants’ rights. The distribution scenarios are described considering current physical content distribution environment in order to explain the weak point. A new distribution model is proposed that can protect all parties’ rights. Also, the paper describes what kinds of technology are needed to implement the distribution model.
