Abstract

We shall present a routing algorithm for mobile ad hoc networks based on cognitive packet networks, where smart packets provide intelligent quality-of-service driven routing, to discover and maintain routes. Before beginning to look for routes, smart packets are given a routing goal to achieve, for example minimize packet round-trip time, or maximize energy availability in the mobile network. Smart packets move towards their des tination, making decisions at every hop trying to achieve their pre-deļ¬ned routing goals. The routing information collected by smart packets is used to transport data by using dumb packets. In this paper, we shall describe our proposed algorithm, test-bed implementation, and simulation results.
