A Statistical Arc Model for Digital Testing of Circuit Breakers

In this paper, arc model parameters obtained from 50 current zero measurements, recorded during circuit breaker short line fault tests, are analyzed. In order to find one description of the set of arc model parameters of a circuit breaker, a statistical arc model is developed. By means of this statistical arc model, the failure probability of the circuit breaker at various arcing times is computed.
