Abstract

The morphology, characteristics and climatic conditions of the island of Crete, create an ideal setting for severe marine pollution that generates serious problems to the reliability of the local power system. This paper presents the wide experience that has been accumulated in dealing with the problem. Techniques, methods and materials are described that have been used to combat the detrimental effects of pollution.
