Abstract

The increasing use of rare earth magnet materials for excitation in synchronous generators justifies the development of sophisticated design techniques which allow design optimisation. This paper discusses the development of optimisation algorithms applicable to permanent magnet generator design and gives examples of single-objective optimisation.
