Abstract

This paper studies how the voltage tolerance of equipment is affected by the practical supply conditions in a low voltage distribution network. The daily time evolution of the total harmonic distortion in voltage supply is measured to determine the maximum and minimum values for a typical day. An experimental test set-up with a programmable a.c. power source and a measuring system were used to generate voltage dips of different magnitude and duration and to investigate the behaviour of equipment under the different supply conditions.
