Abstract

Power Quality (PQ) is becoming increasingly important to electricity consumers at all levels of usage [1-3]. A dramatic increase in the number of mains powered but electronically controlled equipment (computers, office equipment, electronic ballasts, variable speed drive, and consumer electronics) took place in the last two decades leading to a greater dependency on radio, telecommunication and electronic products. The usage of these products is possible only if the necessary criteria of PQ are met. This study introduces Power Quality and in general, provides an overview of the standards that establish noise limits, evaluates various mitigation techniques and looks at the challenges that need to be.
