Abstract

Some of the most diffuse sources of harmonic pollution in residential and commercial environment are single-phase loads, such as computers, printers, discharge lamps, etc. These loads can produce unbalanced line currents generating, consequently, a zero sequence current in the neutral line of a three-phase four-wire electrical system. In this paper a novel active filter for a three-phase four-wire system has been designed. An appropriate method to determine the active filter reference current has been studied and proposed. This method allows the calculation of the reference current also under non-sinusoidal and unbalanced three-phase supply voltage conditions.
