Abstract

In image processing, enhancement of conjugate linear features on an image is required sometimes. We recently proposed a method named the modified conjugate directional filtering (MCDF) to carry out the enhancement of conjugate linear features. In this paper we present three examples in using the MCDF to enhance the conjugated features on some real images. The first example is an aerial photograph of a city; the second is a satellite image of a mountainous region; the last is an image of digital terrain model in central Australia. These examples show that the MCDF is a useful tool for linear feature enhancement not only in the two selected directions, but in other directions as well.
