skeletons, MPI, cluster computing.
We describe a library providing MPI programmers with a small set of skeletons. The library is meant to be an initial step in the perspective of realizing a parallel programming environment that both provides structured ways of exploit ing parallelism (via skeletons) and allows the programmer to fully exploit the primitive communication/coordination mechanisms of MPI. We show experimental results (ob tained on a Linux workstation cluster) that demonstrate both the feasibility and the performance of our approach.
