Abstract

The article presents a procedure for optimal disposition of the base station primarily in single macrocell operating in the VHF (30–300 MHz) or UHF (300 MHz to 3 GHz) range. The main purpose of optimization is to choose the reasonable location of the base station ensuring minimal weighted loss of signal between the base station and a mo bile user. This procedure involves calculating a special function of loss, and it takes into account several factors as follows: free space loss, knife-edge diffraction loss, shad owing, and path loss in buildings. The proposed procedure is recursive. After insignificant modification, it may be applied as a tool to macrocell and microcrell design prob lems.
