We present an automatic navigational tool for computa tional grids. The navigational process is based on mea suring grid characteristics with the NAS Grid Benchmarks (NGB) and using the measurements to assign tasks of a grid application to the best ļ¬tting grid machines. The tool auto matically explores the grid space and navigates the execu tion of a grid application to minimize its turnaround time. We introduce the notion of gridscape as an abstract map of the grid and show how it can be measured by the NGB. Then we demonstrate usage of the gridscape in a naviga tion of an application on a grid built of supercomputers, workstations, and PCs.
