With the explosive growth of information, it is an increasingly arduous task to locate and organize information. Document classification is thus an important component of Knowledge Management Systems as it helps users to manage and search information in enterprises more effectively. This paper presents and describes the design and implementation of the initial prototype of a document classification system that employs a novel idea of using noun phrases as features with support vector machines.
