Many organizations manage their activities by using legacy information systems, representing important supports for the achievement of their business goals. However, the need to share, among users and applications, in a distributed environment the information stored by these systems requires the migration of data-centric systems toward web-enabled information systems. This paper presents a strategy for migrating a legacy information system toward a technologically modern platform that takes advantages from the object-oriented and web technologies. Moreover, the paper presents the toolkit MVCGen supporting the last phase of the strategy. It automatically generates a web-enabled information system by analysing the relational database model extracted from a legacy database.
