A New Design of an Object Navigation Query Notation

Abstract

Current component framework technologies lack expres sions for component and object queries. To overcome this deficiency, we present a new design of an Object Navi gation Query Notation, a language to query and navigate in component based object models represented as UML models. It supports association navigation, generaliza tion/specialization navigation, subclass filtering, attribute filtering, instance filtering, instance sorting, and inner joins. Markers provide navigation into UML loop structures.
