WCDMA (Wideband CDMA) is standardized as an access technology for UMTS 3G mobile networks. One of the characteristics of WCDMA’s radio interface are uplink and downlink load factor, thus leading to the most typical WCDM feature soft capacity. In this paper we provide a soft capacity calculation algorithm and its relation to the uplink load factor, and thus to the noise rise. The soft capacity algorithm is implemented in MATLAB. The results of the analysis showed the relation between soft capacity, service data rate and blocking probability in the WCDMA cellular network.
