Software testing, test suite generation, test suite reduction, testing requirements
The goal of test suite generation and reduction is to satisfy all testing requirements with the least number of test cases. This paper proposes a testing requirements reduction model, and proves the selection problem of the minimum test suite is NP complete. Based on the model, we present a test suite generation method, which reduces the testing requirements in terms of their interrelations, and then generates or reduces test cases according to testing resources and criterions. The case study shows that the method may obtain the optimized test suites based on testing requirements effectively.
