Abstract

Maintaining the performance of applications post deployment is a challenge for most enterprises. During development, applications are verified for performance based on limited available data and assumptions on the workload and the deployment infrastructure. Hence, accurate data of the workload and resource utilization on the deployment infrastructure are available only after the application is at least partly in production. Ensuring acceptable performance thus requires analyzing the workload and performance of the application post deployment and assessing the capacity of the system for handling current and future workloads. This paper details the approach of assessing the capacity of the eCommerce applications by extracting the workload data from the web server logs and monitoring the resource utilization of the deployment servers.
