- A non-data-aided decision-directed feedforward timing estimation has been reported recently which requires low computational power but has low estimation variance under small excess bandwidth conditions. This paper provides a preliminary theoretical analysis on the performance of the decision-directed timing estimation. The effects of symbol length in the timing estimation and the bias error have been addressed. Computer simulation using qpsk signal is used to verify the theoretical findings.
