Abstract

This paper is focused on local-repair storms and ACK implosion problems of on-demand based multicast rout ing protocols in congested Mobile Ad-hoc NETworks (MANETs). Based on tree-speciļ¬c congestion informa tion, a solution to such problems is also presented in order to suppress both repair and ACK messages without degrad ing the multicast performance under normal network con ditions. We show through ns2-based simulations that the proposed scheme is able to provide substantial improve ment in terms of packet delivery ratio, routing overhead, as well as packet delay.
