embedded controllers, relay auto tuners frequency response identification
This paper describes the development of a commercial cost-effective industrial PID controller implemented in micro-controller hardware that incorporates automated sys tem identification and tuning for a wide variety of plants. Additionally, the controller recognises pathological plants where either the estimation schemes are deficient, or PID control is inappropriate, and advises the operator to that effect. Substantial algorithmic simplifications and stream lining to reduce the memory and the floating point require ments were needed to be practical for implementation in the 8051 hardware.
