With higher performance-cost ratio of embedded devices, more and more GUI applications are implemented in em bedded products. The functions of such applications are much more powerful than ever. This paper presents the design and implementation of an integrated desktop for Qt/Embedded applications in an embedded device. By giv ing the framework of the desktop, the authors emphasize the importance of cooperations between the applications within one embedded system. We describe the most im portant components of the desktop: solution of window management, as well as of communication between appli cations and device drivers. The desktop solution introduced in this paper can be easily applied to similar embedded de vices.
