Abstract

Parallel discrete event simulation has enabled the realization of large-scale network simulation. To evaluate and to improve the performance of parallel network simulation, the model for estimating the performance of parallel network simulation is required. In this paper, we analyze various factors that may affect the performance of synchronous parallel network simulation. Based on these factors, we draw a model for estimating the performance of synchronous simulation. Experiments in PDNS show that this model can estimate the performance exactly. The model can be treated as an objective function when the network topology is partitioned for parallel simulation.
